New Homes on Lockner?

Please see the email below from the Regeneration Team at Hackney Council. They are looking into the possibility of building new homes on the site where the garages are between the Kingsland Road and Blandford Court.

This is not the first time someone has thought of this idea... the picture above is from a design concept back in 2013 - more information can be found on this link here on our old website.

Do you think this is a great idea you could support? Do you think this is a terrible idea and you'd like to object? Do you think it's interesting and you'd like to know more?

Please see details for the drop in session about it in the email below. If you are unable to make this, but would still like to be heard/involved with the process please drop us an email to locknertra@gmail.com and we will collate replies and ensure they are sent on.

After the extended Covid disruption our TRA meetings will resume after the school summer holidays and the association will be up and running again providing a united front and strong voice with these sorts of issues as they crop up. We will hopefully manage a hybrid form of meeting from now on so residents can choose to join virtually if unable to make a face to face meeting.

Dear Lockner Estate TRA members I hope this email finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the Council's Regeneration team to give you advance notice and to invite you to a drop-in engagement session we are running next month at your estate. You may have seen the Council's online survey earlier this year entitled 'Help Keep Hackney Building', which asked residents and community groups about their priorities, concerns and suggested locations for the future of new Council housing in the borough. This is to start informing how we achieve the Mayor's recent commitment to build 1,000 new Council homes for social rent over this term. One of the possible locations for new homes is the garages at Blandford Court, beside Kingsland Road. At this point no plans have been drawn up and certainly no decisions have been made. This engagement will enable local residents to discuss the location with Council regeneration officers at the earliest possible time, so there is ample opportunity to have your say and shape the future, well before any plans are put together. The drop-in session will take place on Thursday 21st July at 4pm to 7pm outdoors beside the garages at the northern end by Englefield Road. We would welcome the chance to discuss with TRA members at the beginning of the session and I'm happy to begin a little earlier than the start time above if this is of interest? Invitation letters will shortly arrive at all homes around the location, including details of how to give us your views online or by phone, as alternatives to dropping in on the day.

We look forward to hearing your views. Kind regards Chris Carthy Senior Development Manager Economy, Regeneration and New HomesClimate, Homes and Economy Directorate Hackney Council1 Hillman Street, E8 1DY Mob: 07732 830350 Tel: 020 8356 3817
