About the event

Please pop Wednesday 18th January (evening, time TBC) into your diary for the Lockner Residents Association AGM.

We will see if we can get this as a hybrid face to face (in the community flat on Blandford court) and virtual meeting.

We haven't been running as usual since the pandemic. Usually we have meetings four times a year at least. Council officials, local councillors and the community policing team attend (+/- anyone else who we might need depending on issues on the agenda).

It's a great time and place to troubleshoot, report problems and plan, collectively and to the correct people. We also organise community events; in the past in addition to the Lockner Big Lunch and Christmas Panto we have had art classes, first aid courses and exercise classes among other things.

The AGM itself can be a bit dry - it's mainly presenting accounts and reports, registering the constitution and then nominating and voting for officers. However, we need a minimum of 15 people to attend to register the association in order to keep going and to provide a voice for residents collectively with the council. Please attend if you can to show  your support, the benefits of having the association are huge to Lockner.

Once the AGM is over and we're up and running properly again we can get to the important issues with subsequent meetings.

We will need to nominate and vote for a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and treasurer and some committee members at the meeting. These positions can be as little or as much effort as you want/have available. The minimum is arranging and attending 4 meetings a year. It's a really empowering and heartwarming way to get involved with the Lockner community. It will be especially nice since the pandemic when we saw residents come together like we haven't before.
