About the event

Before the second Covid wave hit us all, we ran an Adult and Child First Aid course with the British Red Cross on Lockner. Twenty four Lockner residents attended the course and gained new skills, making Lockner a safer place for us all to live.

If you completed the course but haven't yet collected your certificate, please get in touch!

We carried out a consultation shortly afterwards to purchase a community defibrillator for Lockner. This is a small machine that can be used to shock a heart back to starting if anyone has a cardiac arrest. Currently only 1 in 10 people who have a cardiac arrest out of hospital survive - we want to increase this number for everyone on Lockner.  Everyone on Lockner will have access to the Lockner community defibrillator within 2 minutes of an emergency.

We have worked in partnership with the London Ambulance Service to develop a training scheme to deliver to Lockner estate residents. We are the first estate in the COUNTRY to do this - and if we are successful with this pilot scheme, this is something we could see rolled out by councils all over London.

The defib is simple and easy to use. You do not need any qualifications or previous knowledge.

The London Ambulance Service will be doing some outdoor live demonstration sessions on Lockner on SATURDAY 10th April. There will be one from 10-10.30am, which will be repeated  from 10.45-11.15am.

This is FREE, you don't need to have any previous first aid experience and is suitable for anyone over the age of 8 to attend.

If you would like to book a slot for the live demonstration, please reply to this email with names of people, your address and the time you would like to attend.

Flyers will follow through letter boxes, but please do help us to spread the word.
